The Good Thief is a Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Miller Peshek and his niece, Theresa, took care of me while I was at death's door. I owe them my life.

The Good Thief Walkthrough

  • Talk to Miller Peshek and take the job he is offering you.
  • Get the spade you can find in the mill's yard ( there is also one on the entrance to the executioner's house)
  • Dig out the grave and go back to miller Peshek and tell him that there was no ring.
  • He will tell you that the ring is probably in the executioner's house inside a trunk that you have to lockpick.
  • Learn to lockpick from Peshek.
    • Make sure you drink a Saviour Schnapps (save) before you start to lockpick since this will take some time to learn.
  • Get the ring out of the trunk that you find in the house of the executioner (in the room left to the entrance)
    • Either sneak inside without being noticed or tell the executioner that the Miller offering a sale on a bag of produce and follow him. Knock him unconscious and take his keys and sword and go back to his house and get the ring.
    • You may have to keep the dogs busy with some meat.
  • Bring the ring to Miller Peshek.

The Good Thief Objectives

  • Talk to Peshek the Miller.

    • Start: I'd better have a word with Miller Peshek about the time I spent lying ill at his mill.

    • Completed: I talked to Peshek about the time I spent lying helpless at his mill while his niece, Theresa, took care of me. It seems I ran up a bill with the apothecary.

  • You should pay Miller Peshek the debt for treatment.

    • Start: Miller Peshek paid the apothecary 50 Groschen to treat me while I was unconscious. He wants me to pay the debt off by doing him a service.

    • Completed: It took a bit of effort, but I succeeded in paying Peshek what I owed him. Now we're all square, Peshek confided in me that he'd be willing to buy stolen goods from me from time to time.

Taking the job form Miller Peshk

  • Peshek has a job for me.

    • Start: Peshek keeps offering me some shady job.

    • Completed: I talked to Peshek about the job he wants me to do for him. He wants me to get a ring from a dead convict buried beneath the gallows.

  • Get the dead man's ring for Miller Peshek.

    • Start: Peshek wants me to get him a ring from an executed man who's buried under the gibbet. It's either that or pay him back in coin.

    • Completed: In exchange for the treatment I got at his mill, the miller wanted me to get him a ring that was buried with a corpse under the gibbet. I dug up the corpse, but the ring wasn't there.

  • Get a shovel

    • Start: I am going to need a shovel in order to dig up a ring from a grave.

  • Go back to Peshek.

    • Start: I didn't find any ring on the corpse. Peshek has some explaining to do!

    • Completed: Peshek said the only one who would know anything about the ring is the executioner.

  • Find the ring hidden in the executioner's house and steal it.

    • Start: I've got to get that ring. It's at the executioner's.

    • Completed: The dead man's ring was hidden in the executioner's quarters. I succeeded in getting my hands on it.

  • Go back to Peshek.

    • Start: I've got dead man's ring. It wasn't in the grave, but with the hangman. I can go back to Peshek.

    • Completed: The dead man's ring was hidden in the executioner's quarters. I succeeded in getting my hands on it

  • Take the ring to the miller in Kohelnitz.

    • Start: I finally have the dead man's ring. Peshek wants me to take it to the miller in Kohelnitz.

    • Completed: I took the dead man's ring to Miller Woyzeck in Kohelnitz as Peshek wanted. But Woyzeck threw it away, saying it was a worthless bauble! The whole task was just a test to see if I could be relied upon and had the stomach for less than honest work.

  • Stop by Miller Woyzeck in Kohelnitz.

    • Start: Peshek sent me to Miller Woyzeck in Kohelnitz, who may have work for me.

    • Completed: Peshek sent me to see Miller Woyzeck in Kohelnitz, who should have some "milling" jobs for me now and again.

Paying for the treatment yourself

  • Visit the apothecary about the debt for treatment.

    • Start: While I was unconscious, my debt to the apothecary increased. I should pay him

    • Completed: I paid the apothecary for the treatment he gave me while I was lying unconscious.

  • Pay the apothecary for the treatment.

    • Start: I ran up a bill with the apothecary while I was unconscious. I have to pay him 20 Groschen.

    • Completed: The debt I owed to the apothecary for the treatment he gave me while I was unconscious is finally paid. Unlike Peshek, the apothecary had no peculiar ideas about how I should repay him.

Not paying your debt 

  • I really should pay my debt to the miller, or things will end badly.

    • Start: Peshek insists I repay my debt for treatment. If I don't do it quickly, he'll make my life a living hell.

    • Completed: I repaid my debt to Peshek. Better late than never.
